Text message contact choosing email

There are many, many ways one might go about performing this process.

Here is one example (there are others) of a way to force the telephone number instead of the email address to be used.

• Open the Contacts app
• Select the contact you wish to message.
• Click the "Message" icon near the top left
• Presumably a list of choices of email addresses and telephone numbers will appear in a dropdown. Choose the one you like.

As I suggested, there are many other ways.

So if minimizing steps is your success criterion, you can simply type the telephone number into the "To" field.

Done - in one step!
