Are you sure that you don't have an iCloud backup? Go to Settings > your-name > iCloud. Is it on?

Also, how about an iTunes backup?

Locate backups of your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

How was it broken? Basically you're going to need it to at least temporarily work (need to be able to select "Trust this computer" on the touchscreen) where you can back it up to iTunes on a computer. Then you can use that to restore those photos to an iOS device; that device can be an iPhone, an iPad, or an iPod Touch.

How would the OP do that if the phone is broken?

Oops, good point. What I probably should have said was "go to another device and log into iCloud.com and check it there."
