Question: apple tv audio to mac.

Hello,

I have a 3rd Gen Apple TV and I need to stream the sound from it to my mac. I have my mac connected to my studio monitors and I want to be able to hear the sound coming from my apple tv in them.

So far I can only find post regarding streaming sound FROM Mac TO Apple TV, I need to do FROM Apple TV TO Mac.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

You cannot. The Apple Tv cannot send audio back to the Mac wirelessly. You may be able to use a an optical audio to rca analog audio adapter and then an rca to 3.5mm adapter or a Optical audio USB input to get the audio from the apple Tv to the Mac via a wire but seems unnecessarily complex, when any audio that the Apple TV could conceivably produce should be able to played natively on the Mac directly.

Why do you need to do this?
