Need to back up
I have a Ibook G4 and I want to delete HD information for a resale , but I do not have a old install disc what do I need to put on a DVD or a flash drive for a reinstall
There is a way to erase the drive using an external drive but without an installer disc you could not install an operating system which any buyer would likely desire. You can contact Apple Support (not sales) and see if they have a copy of the original discs but that is pretty unlikely for a computer that old. Even if they do, you will probably have to pay a service charge and it's all a question of if it is worth the trouble for a computer that age which probably won't fetch much.
A G4 can only boot to the optical drive (which may well be failing on an old computer) or Firewire, not a flash drive.
