I was just alerted by my husband that I was accessing the Internet site XYZXXY.com. How can this be possible? He is in Chicago. I am here in Arizona... Is it a setting on HIS phone OR MY phone??

That is why.
If you both have Safari enabled in iCloud settings, browsing history is synced between your devices.

It should stop the syncing going forward. I don't know what it will do to past browsing history.
If you first clear your local history, let that sync and then turn it off, it may remove all of your history.
Are you both using the same Apple ID?

Ok...so, I go into MY iphone...and unmark SAFARI, so it's grayed out....this will now prevent him from getting alerts to his phone the minute that I get onto safari??
Ok... I just thought it would be something else...like a parental control....it popped up on his screen saying I 'just accessed site XOXOX.com....
