iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, Late 2015)

3.3 GHz Intel Core i7

running macOS Sierra version 10.12.6

The cursor disappears on startup sometimes for a long time. I can still create boxes so mouse seems to be functioning, but it is difficult to pin point a specific spot on screen.

Greetings dinofromsaint-leonard,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities! I understand the cursor disappears on startup sometimes with your iMac. Being able to see exactly where you select your mouse is important, so I can definitely understand wanting to clear this up!

A good first step to take would be to reset the NVRAM of your iMac: How to reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac . If you notice the behavior continues after the NVRAM reset, I suggest to start your iMac up in safe mode to see if the issue persists. Starting in safe mode helps to perform certain checks and prevents software from automatically loading. See those steps from the following guide: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

Let me know how the provided steps work for you.

Kind regards.
