Airdrop not working-iPhone X

I can't airdrop to my macbook, or anything for that matter. I have restarted both units, turned on wi-fi, off wifi, restarted, different wifi network, same one, nothing is happening. My phone does not appear nor does the macbook appear on the phone. Just a lot of nothing. I don't know what to try next.
