Stop downloading All photos to iPhone

Hi

Apologies if someone has asked this but haven't been able to get much help and my searches are coming up empty.

Im looking to upgrade icloud to 2tb to save all my photos and UHD videos to it from my pc or anything new i take on iphone.

However, when i upload these from the PC it starts downloading them to my iphone - which i dont want it to do there is over 1tb. I'd like to view them off the cloud and download them if i want to. Same way google Photos works for example.

How would i do this? if it is possible on Apple Photos.

Thanks for the help 🙂

iPhone X, iOS 11.3.1

iCloud Photo Library is designed to sync all of your photos to all of the devices where it is turned on. There isn't any option to not do that if it is being used. The Optimize Storage option can reduce the storage space required on a device. For what you want, Google Photos may be a better option.
