iCloud appears to require plan of similar size to your phone even if not warranted.

iPhone 8 Plus 256gb

Current plan is 50gb, planned to upgrade to 200gb *when needed*

Tried iPhone support and I know phone storage and cloud storage are different. Currently under 50 gb for both due to brand new phone.

I shouldn’t have to pay for larger capacity until it is needed. Getting message iCloud backup failed and need to purchase more storage which is incorrect.
