El Captain - Horizontal White Line At Boot

I have a Macbook Pro running 10.11.6 and yesterday pulled down some MS updates. Since that time, when booting there is a horizontal white line that takes an honest five minutes to slowly move from left to right. I am finally presented with a login prompt.

Any idea why this is happening and is there a fix?

Thank you!

Mac Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

It might be the MS updates, but I don't believe anyone else has reported this issue. That suggests that something else that you may have inadvertently installed prior to reboot could be the cause, and not MS updates (which if it is Office 2016) do not get written to System locations anyway).

There was a suggestion to run the diagnostic software EtreCheck, and by posting those results back here, that information will provide more detailed information on kernel drivers that have been installed, or other software that is known to slow the operating system.

You may have malware installed (unrelated to the MS updates) that either EtreCheck, or the free Malwarebytes can discover.
