HomePod not working with some apps on Apple TV after tvOS and HomePod update to 11.4

I would imagine it is up to individual developers to update their apps. Provide them with feedback.

Mine is also having trouble with Apple TV. Got my second HomePod. Updated it. Paired them. They appear as the pair on Apple Tv. And are selected. Tried a movie from ITunes Movies, purchased. Harry Potter HD. Sound comes out of TV. Played some Apple Music from the Apple TV. Sound comes out of HomePods in stereo and sounds great. Will try some additional apps to see how they do. Did try deselecting and reselecting HomePods as source and restarting Apple TV. Apple TV has all available updates. Going after audio settings next. Will update with any workaround I discover.

That's because homePod works via Airplay2, not Bluetooth. Airplay2 has huge latency, so in apps where it matters (like games) they just turn it off. Video can be adjusted to match audio, so Netflix, Youtube etc work fine.

This issue can't be fixed.

Hurrah. After playing music, I now get sound for movies. Note that the Apple TV interface itself comes from TV. But once I press Play on the movie or song, we get full HomePod goodness.

I can play Music, Netflix, MyTuner and some others on my HomePods, but audio for Vevo, CBS and some others is going to the TV. All iOS devices are up to date. Frustrating

Hi, I have the same problem too , some Apple TV applications will not let me use homepod, and since I upgraded to 11.4 when I say "hey siri" for homepod will also turn on Apple TV

Any one found solution?
