Iphone 6s Battery suddenly draining

Why is my 2 year old iphone 6s battery suddenly draining? Just recently my phone battery has started draining. I kept it on standby overnight starting at 100% and in the morning it was at 1%. The usage was only at 30 min and the standby at 7+ hours so what is draining my battery?

Battery is only at 19% wear. When i did the update it got worse and started at 60% health slow touch response and it even shut off on me couple times. I’ve just watched my 6S, less than 1.5 years old, drain from 78% to 65% in the space of 7 minutes. I don’t use iCloud backups and have Siri turned off as well as all the data sharing for “improvements”. I don’t have notifications running in the background for a load of social media as I’m not signed up to any of them and I have background app updates turned off for all individual apps as well as the global switch. Apple, you could at least be somewhat circumspect about your plan to get software updates to make older devices obsolete. Yes, thisbis following the latest update to 11.4. The saddest part, I know you, as a company, don’t really care.

I have an iPhone 6 and I keep it up-to-date all the time, I am not low on storage, and I always charge it like I am supposed to. The battery is a new one --I've had it for about a year-- it doesn't stay charged for long and it takes forever to fully charge. I can watch my battery drain without even touching my phone. It didn't start doing this until recently. I'm pretty sure this is all because of the new updates.

Long story short, it's happening to me and my iPhone 6s as well with a completely new battery.

I had a bad battery with reduced performance, battery life was not great but usable. Then I updated to iOS 12 and my iPhone 6s basically became a brick that sometimes depleted before my eyes, dropping 2-3% per minute. I initially thought it was the battery so I replaced it at my near by official service partner.

Now my iPhone is running iOS 12.0.1 and the battery health reports "Maximum Performance Capability" with 100% maximum performance, but the battery will still drain completely in 5-6 hours on standby. According to the battery usage Siri is the main culprit so now I've turned off everything I could in the Siri settings without it helping.

I've attached a screenshot. It shows how the battery drained from 100% down to 3% in around 5 hours, most of the time on standby. Between 16.00-17.00 I didn't use the phone at all other than checking the time once, but despite that, the battery continued to drain and Siri (that I've turned off) had 100% of the battery usage. That's just insane!

One weird thing is that it sometimes behaves correct. Also on the screenshot, it shows the battery consumption last night. During 9 hours it just dropped from 85% to 70% which is kind of what I expect when it's on standby. Other nights the battery have almost completely depleted after 8 hours of standby despite it being fully charged from the beginning.

So it's definitely some odd software behavior here that drains the battery. My battery is just 5 days old but still it won't last more than 5-6 hours if I'm lucky.

My 6S was getting less than a day on standby, and just a couple hours with use. Waiting for a team member in the Apple Store, I saw my battery drain from 50% to 19% while looking at Facebook. Battery Health reported 88%. Despite this fact, the Genius Bar member did everything in her power to try to convince me NOT to buy a new battery. Finally, upon installing a new battery, I again get 2-3 days on a fresh charge with light use. Hmmm...Battery Health (beta) needs work.

I experience very similar issues. Yes, my iPhone 6 is old enough to be considered for battery replacement, but it's battery condition dropped suddenly last Sunday, with no apparent reason. Looks more like a software issue than hardware. I will probably end up with new iPhone this year, but it's not the point. Batteries don't die just like that.

Not Helpful. Replaced my battery 2 months ago. Beta says 99%. Was fine until about a week ago then all of a sudden the battery drains like a count down timer and even drains while plugged in and in use. tried various bricks and cables, still same issue. Only way to get it to charge is to leave alone and not use whatsoever.

So there is an app issue. And I have even been deleting apps, not adding, so it must be a native Apple app that is doing this. Guess this is how Apple gets us to upgrade, make the older phones so awful you need to spend the $1000 for a new one.

It is definitely an OS issue. I literally cannot use my 6s after updating it from iOS 10 to iOS 11.4.1. After updating it to iOS 12 it just got worse. The battery drops every minute by doing nothing. (Empty phone: No photos, no apps, no indexing, no location service, no LTE, no bluetooth, no background apps. I don't even use the phone. The battery section in settings show no applications.) I don't think the battery gets much worse in one day and that day just coincides with the iOS update.

By the way I have an iPad Mini and a few years ago I updated it to 9.3.5 which is the latest version supported. It rendered the device unusable. I couldn't do any thing without seconds of lags. Everywhere on the internet people say that it is a battery issue and I have to replace it. However, a few months ago I have found a way to downgrade it to 8.4.1 and the issues are gone. Just poof!!! No more lags and excellent battery life (even if it is more than 5 years old.)

So, no; I don't believe your old battery claims.

I am going back to iOS 11.4.1 and will wait for a way to downgrade it to good old iOS 10.

I have exactly opposite experience. I have replaced my battery with new one, but it was still being drained heavily, though not that rapidly as before replacing. You may say it was drained at a steady pace, when iPhone was not in use. However upgrading to iOS 12 made another difference, for good this time. Thus it must be 100% software related issue, not hardware related.

With iOS 12 my iPhone 6 is considerably faster, battery works as expected.
