Cannot Enable Messages in iCloud on iMac

I updated my iPhone and iPad to iOS 11.4 earlier this week and my iMac and MacBook Pro to High Sierra 10.13.5 earlier today. I was able to enable Messages in iCloud on my iPhone, iPad and MacBook, but unable to do so on my iMac. The check box "Enable Messages in iCloud" does not appear in Messages/Preferences/Accounts. The only check box present is "Enable this account", which was present prior the updated I rebooted my iMac, but that had no effect.

What can I do to enable messages in iCloud on my iMac?

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014), macOS High Sierra (10.13.5)

First, make sure that two-factor authentication is turned on for your iCloud account at https://appleid.apple.com

After ensuring that 2-factor authentication is turned on, I have discovered that there is a simple fix to this problem, which is working for 100% of people who are having these problems:

1. Go into your System Preferences on your Mac.

2. Click on iCloud.

3. Check the checkbox for "Keychain".

That should immediately fix the problem. It's too bad that Apple didn't tell anybody this information!
