'edit to tape...' I can't see anything on my cameras screen

hello. am trying to export edited footage from FCP5 back onto the DV tape using the camera. however I can't get a picture. this is the first time i've used this particular camera. it's a canon xm2. any idea what settings i need (on both camera and FCP) to solve the problem??? cheers.

you'll have better luck with Print to Video instead most likely. read about the difference between this procedure and Edit to Tape in the manual. the manual is usually good place to start with issues like this.

as i've never laid eyes on that camera, i would surmise the procedure is the same for most all cameras: enable VTR mode, enable the firewire port as an input in the menu if this is needed and seeing this is a canon piece of gear, you'll probably want device control to be set to firewire basic
