Thanks for trying to help. I somehow got it sorted by going into recovery mode & resetting my password.

Are you able to sign in with admin name and password , in users and group > login options if you select name and password and keep automatic login as off , and select the box of sleep , restart and shut down the screen shot you posted will be shown on the desktop .
Have you forgotten the password completely , please clarify and post back .

Still prefer erase the hard drive and reinstall os .
I started up my macbook pro as I usually do, but now a grey screen appears with another login page. This is the first time this has happened so im not sure if its a guest account login or administration login. But im stuck & cannot move forward no matter what I try. Ive searched and tried different possible solutions from the internet but nothing seems work. Any suggestions?
