Rejoining iMessage

My iPhone somehow automatically made me "leave" a conversation. How can I rejoin?

Hey Tim!

I understand you're trying to rejoin a text conversation, and I'd be happy to help with that. If you're referring to a regular conversation between yourself and another person, it should be as simple as sending another message to the same contact. This might not restore the previous conversation but should enable you to message them moving forward.
If you're referring to a group thread, all you need to do is ask one of the group members to re-add you to the conversation. Check this out:

Add or remove someone from a group conversation

Anyone in a group iMessage can add or remove someone from the conversation. You can remove a person from a group iMessage that has at least three other people. You can’t add or remove people from group MMS messages or group SMS messages.

Add a person

User uploaded file

  1. Tap the group conversation you want to add someone to.
  2. Tap User uploaded file, then tap Add Contact.
  3. Enter the contact information for the person you want to add. Then tap Done.

Send a group message on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
I hope this clears things up for you, but let me know if that's not the case.
Cheers!
