Did apple sell me a refurbished iPad?

Did apple sell me a refurbished ipad and try to pass it off as new?

I lost my iPhone recently and needed to use "find my iPhone" to retrieve it. All good, that worked. My concern is that when I brought up the find my iPhone page on my iPad.. someones email was autofilled in the Apple iD field. I have never met or heard of this person and they are not a contact of mine. So I did a quick google search on the email address. They are local to me and likely would have shopped at the same Apple store as me.

So, did apple sell me a used iPad and try and pass it off as brand new? It was wrapped in the plastic, had all the included pieces, and it's scratch free. However, I feel cheated. And now every time my iPad feels a little buggy, I have to assume that a new and unused one would not react in this way.

Is there precedent for this?

Thanks

seems like the first thing to do is contact the Apple store that sold this iPad to you and ask them the questions - they actually have answers, the users here only have guesses and if you continue this here for a year you still will not know the actually answer - you what have thousands of guesses but still will have no ideas what the answer really is whereas if you ask apple they can give you an actual answer
