Apple Watch stuck on update, won’t update to pair with new phone

I am trying to pair my reset watch to a new replacement iphone 7. it says the watch needs to be updated. i click to pair, then update. it will say the watch os 3.1 software is up to date. but nothing happens after that. Watch screen is stuck and says please continue to pair on iPhone. What now?!

Watch can’t Pair/Update Recently my Apple Watch series 3 unpaired from my iPhone 12. I couldn’t pair them so I had to completely reset my watch. However when I try to pair them now, it is making me install the new Watch OS. Unfortunately the update keeps pausing at the same spot and will not resume. Apple Watch Won't Pair to iPhone X Apple Watch series 3 would not pair to my iPhone X so I ended up resetting the watch to factory defaults. After this was done, I updated my phone to ios 14.8 and restarted both devices. When I try to pair the watch to the phone, I get a message that says an update is available for the watch. When I touch the button that says Update Now, I get a message that says, "To update the software on your Apple Watch, you need to update the software on your iPhone." My phone shows in settings that it's up to date with ios 14.8 . Any suggestions?

Apple Watch stuck on update while pairing I have the same problem as described by others. I have an iPhone 7plus running iOS 11.2.5 and am trying to pair with my series 1 Watch. The Watch app on the iPhone gets as far as showing "watchOS 3.1.3 Your software is up to date" but sticks there without continuing to pair. So iOS 11 did not help me.Also I do not have the option"General" under the My Watch tab in the Watch app so I cannt try to delete old Watch OS versions as suggested by Jonathon.I also tried the hard reset pressing the crown and power off buttons at the same time. This did not help.Has anyone got an idea what I can try ?Thanks

Make sure your iPhone's software is up to date, currently iOS 11.4. Check it yourself, don't rely on a replacement phone being fully updated when you receive it. Then make sure your phone's Bluetooth is active and you have a working WiFi connection
