How do I use a Thunderbolt cable to transfer files and share my desktop mac screen with my Macbook Air screen?

I am a little frustrated that Mac sells products with no instructions...can someone help me figure this out?

MacBook Air, macOS High Sierra (10.13.4), connecting to mac desk top same OS

Hi,

Try the Migration Assistant app in HD > Applications > Utilities

OS X: Manually migrating data from another Mac - Apple Support

"I am a little frustrated that Mac sells products with no instructions"

There is help. When you boot your Mac then see the desktop, from the menu at the top of your screen click Help.
