fullscreen mode is not available

In the Safari browser, when I try to play a video embedded in an article in full screen mode by clicking on the expansion box, I get this message "Fullscreen mode is not available." When I click the link to Learn more. . ., I get a webpage from You Tube that doesn't address the issue.

This phenomenon is a recent issue for me.

Does anyone know how to fix it?

Using Sierra v. 10.12.6 & Safari v. 11.1.1

iMac, macOS Sierra (10.12.6), 3.1 GHz Intel Core i7; 16GB 1600MHz

Hi Paula ..

You may have a third party Safari extension or plug-in installed that's causing a conflict.
