I have used the iPad Air 2 in high school now for two years (bought new) and am thinking about getting the iPad. My question is twofold. Should I get the iPad or will the iPad Air 2 last another 4 years just fine? Is the iPad not having the fully laminated display or the antireflective coating while my iPad Air 2 does a big deal? I really only need it for notes, google docs and watching movies, nothing too wearing.

You need to check out your school. What you get will depend on your major and school. You may need a laptop for certain apps. I'd say wait to get to your school and see what is required. Check on the school's web site and see what they recommend.

I really don’t know all the “technical mumbo-jumbo,” with all the iPads, but 6th generation iPad supports Apple Pencil. It is really your decision which to buy, also if you can afford it, and willing to spend the money.
