2016 MBP TB 13" - Am I resetting NVRAM/PRAM properly?

Hello, I followed the instructions here = How to reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support.

On startup and when I'm holding down the buttons there's no sound being played (even though audio is at max). The startup process just looks exactly the same as a normal startup (e.g. white Apple logo displays with a white progress bar that chugs along). Is there any other way to make sure I'm doing it properly?

One challenge for me is that I'm not sure if my 'power button' works properly. I find I need to press it a few times before the white Apple logo is displayed. Thanks!

It is a silent process with no feedback except for the startup chime.

Are you having some issue with your machine?

You can reset NVRAM from the terminal.app:

To zap the PRAM or NVRAM on your Mac without the power button:

Open your Utilities folder which can be found in your Applications folder or by selecting Utilities from the Finder Go menu.

Launch Terminal and copy the following command or type it exactly:

sudo nvram boot-args=”-p -r”

Press Enter, type your password (will not echo), and press Enter again.

Your PRAM/NVRAM will be reset after you restart your computer!

1. Shut down the computer.

2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.

3. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys.

4. Turn on the computer.

5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.

6. Release the keys.
