IOS 11.4 WiFi connectivity? Do you find it drops the signal entirely?

I just upgraded to 11.4 on an iPad Air 2 and an iPhone 8+. Both now have WiFi issues. At times, the completely lose the WiFi, even though they can “see” the network. I’ve reset everything, including replacing the router. Even went to the Genius Bar where they wiped everything to “new”. Same problem. In fact, even at the Genius Bar, the devices didn’t show WiFi right away. On the iPad, it can take a few minutes to get the WiFi signal.

so, is there something in IOS that turns the WiFi antennas off to save battery life? If so, there’s something wrong with the feature. id at least like to know so I can stop driving myself nuts.

Go to settings and open your wifi. Select your wifi by touching the wifi name. Click on Forget This Network. Touch Forget this Network (in red to confirm). Then open up WIFI to rediscover your network and re-enter your password for your network.

This fixed my WIFI issues on iphone 6 plus and iphone 8 running ios 11.4 so far.😉

I've been having the same issue with two of my phones since iOS 11.3 (upgrade to 11.4 did not help). It was definitely not my router as my Kindle works fine. Had tried just about every logical thing to fix this, but the only workaround that is holding up is adding the MAC addresses of all my devices to the router and enabling MAC filtering on the router. My phones have not dropped the wifi signal since I did this a couple of days ago. I hope this helps.

We all have the same issue but from Apple nothing at all

The dont ******* give a **** about us the just sold a iphone 6 give a update ios 11.4 and ow we have to downgrade or get rid our old iphone 6 and buying with 1000$ the x just because the dont want the old stff.

After ios 11.4 i dont have any connection with my wifi and when i have one day the phone don’t remember the password wifi and other day suddenly remeber and connected by itself.

At 3 meters with no walls and nothing between me and my router i get only 10% of wifi when i move at 4 meters from wifi strength is gone and if i search 100 times for my wifi nothing happens.

To my other hand i am holding a iphone 5 and at that iphone the same wifi is full

Wifi strength.

I have make the same test to 5 others routers all have the same wifi security protocols same issu iphone 6 with ios 11.4 no wifi and when i get a little wifi the strength goes up and down up and down.

Apple ***** give my money back.

This seems to be a problem with some older router models in iOS 11.3 and 11.4 releases. I was able to fix this for my devices, that exhibited the same behavior after updating to iOS 11.4, by doing the following:

1) Factory reset the network configuration in settings. Reason being that I couldn't manage the WiFi connection from the usual menu anymore, so I couldn't make the device forget the WiFi and couldn't trigger another prompt for the password. By resetting all network configurations, I the password prompt would reappear upon conncection and initial configuration would go through properly, with the device able to connect to the internet as usual.

2) However, this fix turned out to be only a temporary one, as the device would again lose WiFi connectivity at some point, after waking the device from sleep for example. I noticed that in that case, the entry for the router / gateway IP would be empty. So the fix for this has been to factory reset the network configuration again as noted above in order to reconnect properly again - and the going into the WiFi settings and hitting the little info button next to the active WiFi connection (symbol: small "i" in a circle) and note the IP config under "IPv4 address". Copy this down somewhere and, on that same screen, tap on "configure IP", switch this from "automatic" to "manual" and fill in the exact same IP config data you noted earlier.

After that, the device has been keeping up the WiFi connectivity for several days now.

OK dear friend let’s say that we do your steps above , about the full strength Wi-Fi signal that getting lost after 3 meters away from router ca you tell us anything.

My iPhone 6 is not connecting until it’s 1 m or 2 m away from router if I go 3 m away from the router with no object between me and my router losing signal wifi strength and then it will pop up msg that say that my password is wrong thats our big issue weeks now.

Not the connectivity!!

After more testing, it only happens when connected to a specific SSID. Have two wifi routers, one acting as an extender with different SSID. Both ASUS AC-68Us. Don't get the 'wifi drop on sleep' when connected to the main router. It only happens when connected to the extender.

The network has been setup this way for years, and the iPhone has always been connected to the extender. For some reason iOS 11.4.1 doesn't like it.

Also, I've never installed a VPN.

Internet searching has indicated WiFi dropping since the last IOS 11.4 update is a huge problem. All the replies that tell you what to do? I have done every one of those and have even gone to the expense of replacing the cable modem and splitter. Still daily, intermittent WiFi drops. Apple is silent on this problem. I have no answers for you, but wanted to jump onto this issue in hopes that Apple will finally address this and help their loyal customers. My loyalty since the iPhone 4 is being pushed to it’s limits. I’m with Verizon, 4 devices on the plan and for the first time we went over our data allowance. This issue has already cost me money with replacing home equipment and now it is costing me additional charges on my plan. When will Apple address this?

I’m guessing you mean you took your phone to be reformatted? I’m unfamiliar with this. The WiFi drop is happening with my iPad Air, 6, and 6Plus. We have done all the suggested fixes with the phones except for a complete factory reset and have completed all the suggested fixes for our WiFi equipment. It even happens at my son’s home when using their WiFi. I really think it is an IOS problem and am hoping for a fix with the next update. Thank you for replying.
