i tried two methods that i found here
1. Turn airplane on and wait a while then turn it back off and immediately go the phone setting and tab on my nubmer.
2. Remove the sim card and clean the gold plated side and wait a while then put it back in.
nothing from the above worked, what to do then?

It sounds like your Caller ID may be disabled.
To check go to:
Settings > Phone > Show My Caller ID > Enable

Okay if the setting is enabled (showing green) I would suggest contacting your carrier, as it may be something on their end. You can also contact Apple Support.
