Activity not working

My activity is not working on my watch and the screen does not turn on when I raise my arm to look at it. I did the update and it had not worked right since.

Many help would be appreciated.

Hi Joshua,

Thanks for getting back to us with the additional information. The following support article has some additional troubleshooting steps I would like to have you try next, starting at step 2:

Get help with your Apple Watch - Apple Support

After each step, test if the display wakes when you raise your wrist and if you notice any change with the Activity app. If you get to the point where you need to unpair your Apple Watch from the iPhone, your iPhone will automatically create a backup of your Apple Watch when you unpair it. This process does erase all data from your Apple Watch and when you pair it again, you can restore the Apple Watch from a backup.

Visit the following link to learn more abut how your iPhone backs up and stores your Apple Watch data:

Keep us posted with what happens from here.

Take care.

Hello Joshua,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that you're encountering an issue with the Activity app and display not waking on your Apple Watch Series 3 after a watchOS update. Having your device work as expected is important. You've come to the right place for help.

The Apple Watch User Guide has some troubleshooting steps to try when your Apple Watch display does not wake when you raise your wrist:

Turn on, wake, and unlock - Apple Watch User Guide

Specifically, check out this section:

Wake the Apple Watch display. Just raise your wrist. Apple Watch sleeps again when you lower your wrist. You can also wake Apple Watch by tapping the display or pressing the Digital Crown. If you want to wake Apple Watch Series 2 and later by turning the Digital Crown upward, open the Apple Watch app on iPhone, tap My Watch, then tap General. Tap Wake Screen, then turn on Wake Screen on Crown Up.

If Apple Watch doesn’t wake when you raise your wrist, make sure you selected the proper wrist and watch orientation. If Apple Watch doesn’t wake when you tap the display or press or turn the Digital Crown, it may need charging.

Tip: If you don’t want to wake Apple Watch when you raise your wrist, open the Apple Watch app on iPhone, tap My Watch, then tap General. Tap Wake Screen, then turn off Wake Screen on Wrist Raise. You can also prevent Apple Watch from waking after raising your wrist by turning on Theater Mode.

As far as the Activity app not working properly, could you tell us more about what's happening? Is there specific information not tracking properly?

Cheers!

Thanks for your help Alex. I followed the steps you gave and unfortunately it still will not wake up upon raising my wrist. It will only wake up if I tap the screen.

As for the activity app it is not recording anything no steps no standing no exercise no nothing it’s like I do not even have the watch on. It was working Friday and then Saturday morning it was not working and has not worked since.

Thanks again for any help.
