Samsung T3 SSD not mounting to MacBook Pro

Samsung T3 External SSD is no longer mounting to my 2016 MB Pro.

When I plug it in, the blue light lights up indicating it's getting power, however the drive is not showing in Disk Utility. Purchased a new USB-C 3.1 cord and still no luck. The Samsung T3 Activator app also does not detect the drive.

Does this mean the drive is dead?

Some Readers who repair external drives suggest that such a failure is far more likely to be the interface board than the drive itself. if the drive is a standard SATA drive, it could be tried in a different enclosure, and has some hope of working again.

The possible problem is that a device made and sold by one manufacturer, like Samsung, may be a combined interface and SSD, all on one board. These are far less likely to be repairable.

Hello EasyTigerrr !

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities! If I'm understanding your post correctly, your Samsung solid-state hard drive is not being recognized by your MacBook, even when you connect it with a new cable.

Are other USB drives or devices being recognized by your Mac?

Does the drive work when connected to a different computer?

Where there any recent changes to your Mac that preceded this issue?

If you haven't done so already, try creating a new user account and test the issue as explained in this resource called How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac .

Kindest Regards
