Why won’t my debit card work

Make sure you are using an accepted form of payment > Payment methods that you can use in the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store - Apple Support

If this is a prepaid debit card that you got from a local store, Apple does not accept them as payment.

This has always been the situation. However, some folks have been able to fool the system with prepaid cards for a period of time. Eventually it catches up to them and the system refuses the card(s) when it realizes there isn't a bank account on the other end, just a credit balance.

When did this start? I have been able to use store cards up until about a week or so ago.
