IPod touch could not be activated!!

” Your iPod touch could not be activated because the activation server cannot be reached. Try to...”

My iPod after ” reset all contents and settings “ cannot be activated. And it seems that the iPods are no longer supported, and that turns it into a true brick. So what should I do now? I Hope apple can explain this to me, after more than a year of using the iPod and now that I want to clean it ( delete all contents ) , it will no longer be usable.
