Hi

You have damaged iPhone it is NOT water proof it is water resistant

To splashes a divers watch is water proof.

Make an appointment at Apple store For an out of warranty replacement

Apple don't repair water damaged devices

You will need to pay half of the cost of the new price of the iPhone.

Unless you have Apple care.

Cheers

It is not waterproof, it is water resistant. However Apple says not to immerse in water. They say it is Splash, Water, and Dust Resistant. See this from the iPhone X specifications list.

iPhone X is splash, water, and dust resistant and was tested under controlled laboratory conditions with a rating of IP67 under IEC standard 60529. Splash, water, and dust resistance are not permanent conditions and resistance might decrease as a result of normal wear. Do not attempt to charge a wet iPhone; refer to the user guide for cleaning and drying instructions. Liquid damage not covered under warranty.

Apple says: iPhone X is IP67 but it isn't waterproof! That's contradiction in terms.
IPx7 means "Ingress of water in harmful quantity shall not be possible when the enclosure is immersed in water under defined conditions of pressure and time (up to 1 m of submersion); Test duration: 30 minutes - ref IEC 60529, table 8."

To be honest: Why do people pay way more than 1000 bucks, test whether swimming with it is possible and then are disappointed when the device is killed. I don't understand!
