itunes(mbp) wont allow me to log in itunes while iphone allowed

reecently i got into this strange behaviour with my itunes in mbp. i tried to log into my itunes on mac and my phone pop up with the apple id verification code but my itunes in mac doesnt pop up anything for me to key in the number. so i would log in again using itunes and again the same thing happen. i got the code the phone send me but itunes doesnt pop up anything for me to key in these code and i cannot log in to itunes account.

is this a glitch?

If you see a password box, enter the password (ABC) followed by the code (123) or ABC123.
