Everytime I connect my iPod to my computer it never shows up. I have restarted my computer, reinstalled itunes and have even looked for a update to restore my iPod. Nothing works. Im not clear on what the problem is. This iPod is new and has never gave me any problems until now. Why won't it show up when I connect it? My iPod is a 80Gb video. Thanks for any help given.
same problem here. first time no problem, and I loaded my ipod (80 gb, video) with photos, games and about 5000 songs.
Now, second time around, it doesn't show up on my computer or in itunes. Right now the biggest problem is that i can't disconnect it as it is not recognized by the computer. And I can't disconnect it via itunes as it doesn't show up in the controlbar on the left side on the itunes window. It is not charging, even though it is connected via the usb cable that came with the f
***g thing, and the display on the ipod itself screams "do not disconnect..." Somebody who knows what happens if i just disconnect it from the pc? Will it be harmful to the ipod? Hopefully I can solve this by tomorrow as I am going to Thailand, and my plan was to use my brand new ipod on both the long flight and during my holiday... Will be thankful for any help!
i have tried just about everything now, and have read alomst all of the articles. so i have one last thought on my problem.
is it possible for an ipod with copurt files on it corupt or malfunction the usb cord when you connect the cord to your ipod/computer? becuase my ipod works fine, but itunes nor my pc will reconzige it.
also for more info on my problem, go to the next page in the forum and find the message that is
titled something like
"my computer and itunes will not recongzied my ipod"
the orignal topic was posted by ebdancer
one more thing, earlier the day that all this started happening my friend's ipod was able to connect to itunes and the pc. it worked perfectly fine and downlaod songs. but once i started playing with my ipod my friend could no longer get hook up his ipod to itunes or the pc. his ipod works fine like mine, but can no longer connct, like mine. the usb cord we were using is brand new. we have only used it a couple of times. also, it came with a wall chagrer adpater from a brand called belkin. and i also have two other usb cords, one came with my ipod and one came with my friend's they have also malufunctioned on us too.
i think there is a posiiblity that you can disconeect the ipod perfectly fine. i have done the same thing before. most of the time my ipd was perfectly fine afterwards, howver, then was once when my ipid did go haywire.(which is not the problem with my own problem people, trust me one this)
This was not actually answered. I am still having itunes problems so I have given up on apple. Even the techs couldn't help. I ended going to the store, hoping to high heavens that maybe I can see what was wrong. Zip. Nothing. So realplayer is the next best thing. And let me say that it syncs a hella lot fast then itunes ever did. Thanks so much for your help apple...
Hey,
i have had what sounds like the exact same problem with my ipod... it is a 30g video, and when i connect it to my computer it is not seen (keepin mind it is less than 3 months old). it will not appear on the itunes page, nor will it appear in Mycomputer therefoe i cannot add or remove any music from it. other than it it works perfectly fine... have you found anything that helps?
You're problem is similar to mine. You bought a piece of crap and downloaded a software update that immediately started causing problems with your iPod.
It's no wonder Bill Gates is so wealthy and the only people that buy Mac computers are hard-headed morons.
Hey, I'm New here, seems that almost everybody that has a 80 G video Ipod are in the same trouble, i've been doing all that read in here but still get nothing..Please HELP
My ipod is not recognize by itunes, when is plugged only displays the "do not disconnect" advice FOR HOURS doing nothing, I about to through it!!!!, i have 4 ipods, minis, nanos, the others jus Sync normally but this 80 g do nothing...
i HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH AN 30G IPOD ONLY ONE YEAR OLD. NO PROBLEMS UNTIL DOWNLOADED 7.0 ITUNES. DOESN'T SHOW UP ON WINDOWS OR ITUNES AND WILL NOT CHARGE. THE IPOD IS COMPLETELY DEAD. AS SOON AS THE DOWNLOAD IMMEDIATELY IT SAID LOW BATTERY AND GOT REAL HOT THAN TURNED OFF. CANNOT EVEN GET ANY POWER. PURCHASED NEW CABLE AND DOESN'T WORK EITHER.
We've had this problem since the release of iTunes 7
The problem is NOT the iPod (we've got several replaced from Apple). The problem is iTunes and some Windows-drivers.
Still, we haven't found which drivers that causing the problem, but if you install a new copy of Windows XP with SP1 and the iTunes, it works. But after installing a couple of programs, SP's etc, it fails!
Then iTunes says your iPod is corrupt and want you to restore it. When trying that, it stops and says it can't do that. Changing drive letter etc doesn't help either.
However, if you use an older version like 6.0 it works but ONLY if you have NOT installed 7.0 -> before. Uninstalling 7.0 want work.
This is something we have reported to Apple but they don't care about it at all. Which not is so bright as you can replace the iPod during your waranty and that cost Apple alot of money and time.
"We" are 9 computer technican's and all of us have iPod's. This message is only valid for iPod's over 30GB. iPod Nano etc is NOT affected
Sure... 9 people...
If you do read all topics in this thread, you'll see that there are 100's (and if you also search on internet you'll probably found 1000'2 with the same problem)
Those 9 you're talking about, are they using Win XP with Sp2 and iTunes 7.0 ->? Don't think so.
And hey, Apple DON'T care. Believe me. I've replaced my iPod 10 times! Since December with the same problem. Do they care? Is that support, replacing iPod's?
