Unreadable Large Text Size - How to Reduce it?

Hi,

I am having a problem with third-party programs where the size is always extra large and unreadable. I've tried to "command shift minus" to reduce it and even update software but the problem still exists.

Does anyone know to resolve this so the text is readable?

See below for examples from all different programs including chrome, mac installer and steam.

Shortcut to decrease text size not working sometimes macOS 10.14Pages 7.2Highlighting some text and then pressing cmd+- (ie pressing "-" while holding the "command" key) sometimes decreases the size of the text and sometimes not. Sometimes it will even decrease a certain amount but no more, for example, from 12 pt to 11 pt and then to 10 pt but no further. If instead of trying to use the keyboard shortcut I use the decrease text size button in the sidebar, it works - I can reduce the text size to whatever I want. Seems really strange as in Pages 4.3 this shortcut always worked without any issues. (Note: I haven't noticed any issues with using the keyboard shortcut to increase text size.)I decrease/increase text size often in some of my documents, so this is a real pain. Any help appreciated.
