Apple Watch Series 1 Not Charging

I've had my watch for a little over 2 1/2 years without any issues. I now have the problem where I put it on the charger and the apple logo flashes periodically. I have done research and found that Apple has extended the warranty for swollen batteries on both the Apple Watch 1 & 2. When I set up a repair request on Apple, it says it'll cost $199. For that price, I can just buy a new one. That's crazy if Apple knows there's a battery issue.

I have tried everything:

  1. Pressing both buttons on the side to force restart, nothing happens as it has no power
  2. When I press the Home Button the Apple logo flashes-but that's it
  3. Cleaned the charger and the back of the watch using a microfiber cloth
  4. Changed the charging brick and plugged directly to wall. I'm unable to use a different cable as no one else in the house owns an Apple Watch
  5. Let it charge for 30 minutes and tried #1 again-NOTHING
  6. Unpaired with my iPhone X and got an unpairing error. It's telling me to go to the settings on the watch
  7. Unable to pair with my watch

Right now I'm just very frustrated. Guess I'll set up an appointment and see what I'm told in the store.

Contact Apple Support to setup the repair process. They will examine the watch before quoting for your approval before starting work, and if the extended warranty applies they will tell you.
