Windows drives can be formatted in a number of types, including FAT16, FAT32, exFAT, & NTFS. A Mac should be able to read any of these; however, if the drive is formatted in NTFS, your notebook will NOT be able to write to it ... without additional software.

When you connect this drive does it mount to your notebook's Desktop? Try using the Disk Utility, which is located in the /Applications/Utilities folder to see if the utility can "see" this drive.

The following is a screenshot of my Mac mini's drives as seen in this utility. See if you can provide a similar image of yours. What I would be interested in would be to click on the iOmega drive (assuming it appears) and provide an image of the whole utility screen.

Did this drive connect before or have you never been able to access with your MacBook Air? Regardless, what is this drive formatted as, i.e., FAT32, exFAT, HFS+, NTFS, etc.? What connection type does this drive require, i.e., USB, Firewire, Thunderbolt, etc.?
