How do I update my iPad Retina 8.1.1 to 9

I have recently found my iPad after years of being in my closet. It won't install the latest update. I need at least iOS version 9 to use the apps I want. Where can I find the old versions and how do I install it?

iPad Wi-Fi, iOS 8.1.1

Try updating that iPad by connecting your iPad to a computer using iTunes (12.6.x).

Older versions of iTunes found here.

iTunes 12.6.4 here.

I feel a little stupid. I don't have my laptop with me. I'll need to borrow someone else's and install iTunes on it. I went to the link you posted and found the old versions which would support my iPad 4 Retina display, but there are no download links. Will I be able to see download links from a pc with iTunes installed? I can't get the latest 12.6.4 version because it doesn't support 32 bit IOS. I'll consider taking it to a computer repair place if that's the only alternative. I'm old and not very technical.

Thank you so much for your time.

Any of the versions that contain an “email download link” will provide the actual downloadable file, when you supply your email, when you tap on the email download link button, which will send the downloadable file in an email to you, through your email address.

For Windows, this maybe an archived .ZIP file that will contain the download .exe file within when you double-click on the file.
