iPhone X Headphone Popping \ Clicking

Hi everyone, I have had my iPhone X for 7 months now and have been using the included wired earbuds. I finally got sick of them hurting my ears and bought a set of Corsair wired headphones. The headphones work flawlessly with everything else in my house, laptop, wife's phone (android), desktop pc etc. But when I plug them into the iPhone X with the dongle I get clicking \ popping sounds, I have tried 2 different lightning to 3.5mm jack cables and they both do the same thing, I've also tried resetting the settings and also a full factory reset.

Does anyone have anything else I could try before I have to take phone back? This really seems like a software issue with Apple and them wanting me to buy there headphones which I'm not going to do. I also feel that swapping it over will have the same issue as other people have stated the same thing.

Cheers in advance.

Ok update, I think I have found what the issue is, the clicking and popping is the iPhone trying to figure out what the headset is. This particular headset is a gaming headset with a microphone so the 3.5mm jack has 3 black rings on it (stereo left - right, and mic input all on the one jack). This seems to be confusing the iPhone in trying to figure out if it has a microphone or not for some reason. I have a 20cm 3.5mm to 3.5mm extension cable here at home that only has 2 black rings (stereo left - right no microphone) so it's only passing through the stereo connection not the microphone connection, I plugged that in line with the dongle and the headset (+1 dongle life points heh) and it has completely fixed my problem as the phone is not just detecting that it's a stereo headset, and since I don't want to use the microphone (it's detachable) this solution works fine for me.

I wanted to post an update in hopes it may help some other people 🙂
