Can’t add music from Apple Music

I’ve been trying to add music from Apple Music and am having some trouble. After I click the ‘add’ icon, I get the download check mark. However, after a few seconds, the ‘add’ button returns and the music is not available. Any ideas? Is there a song limit to Apple Music? I also have iTunes Match...

Specifically, I suggest reviewing the following section:

If you can't download, play, or access songs

First check iTunes to see if the song is ineligible for upload. Additionally, if you added the song to your library from the Apple Music catalog, it might no longer be available on Apple Music.

Check your Internet connection

Open Safari on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac, or a web browser on your PC, and go to any website to make sure you have a strong Wi-Fi or Internet connection.

If you can't connect to a Wi-Fi network on your iOS device, you can try using cellular data:

  1. Go to Settings > App and iTunes Stores.
  2. Turn on Use Cellular Data.

You might have to pay a fee to download over a cellular network. Contact your wireless carrier for details, and learn about cellular data settings and usage.


If the issue remains after taking any needed action from the steps above, let's have you restart your iPhone and test the behavior: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

You're also able to see information related to limits within your music library from the following guide: Access your music collection on all of your devices with Apple Music

You can have up to 100,000 songs in your music library. Songs that you buy or bought from the iTunes Store don't count against this limit.
