How do you lock screen for backup

How do you lock screen to do a backup ?

To "lock" a device is to press the side button of your iPhone 7. When you do that, it puts the phone to sleep, the screen goes black, and is now locked. Or if you've configured your device to auto-lock after a few minutes, and you haven't been using it, it will lock in the allotted time you've set it for.


iOS devices automatically back up when they are plugged into the wall, using a wifi connection, and are locked. If you are not using the device, it will lock automatically after a few minutes depending on how it's configured. When folks go to bed at night, usually they do the above and the backup gets done.
