When I see a bill for san iTunes purchase, how do I see what that purchase was for?

iMac with Retina 5K display, iOS 11.3.1

You can check your purchase history. See this, See your purchase history in the App Store or iTunes Store - Apple Support

If the only thing you have that shows you made a purchase is an email receipt, it may be a phishing attempt. See this, Avoid phishing emails, fake 'virus' alerts, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support This may also help. Identify legitimate emails from the App Store or iTunes Store - Apple Support
