Turn off special holidays in calendar
The newly added obscure holidays are of no interest to me. How can I delete them from showing up without disabling all the regular holidays?

You cannot alter a subscribed calendar. If you prefer, you can choose from any number of subscribed calendars or even download a fully customizable calendar from the App Store where you can input only the holidays you observe.
