Can't get Photos to find People in all pictures

Can't get Photos to find People in all pictures, In a 10,000 picture library, the people feature worked to find 100+ people with many pictures catologed. But now it has stopped looking for new pictures with the already identified people. Sometimes it will flag a new picture added to the Library with a known person, but not always. Is there some way to "restart" the people id process. Or even better, a way to get it to restart on the uncatologed faces?

MacBook Pro, macOS High Sierra (10.13.5)

What is the problem?

  1. Has Photos detected faces in all photos, but does not name them and is showing them as unnamed?
  2. Or does Photos not detect any faces in the new photos at all?

If the problem is that Photos does not name the recognized faces, try to open the people album fo each person and use the command "Confirm additional faces" at the bottom of the album.

If the problem is that no faces are detected at all, ensure that all photos are stored locally on your Mac, if you are using iCloud Photo Library. View all photo enlarged to force them to download from iCloud.

Then restart your Mac and the Photos.app, to kick off the background processes.

Thank you. In reviewing, there are many photos where no People are detected. However, there are also many faces detected of folks in the People Library, but the connection isn't made - they remain "unnamed" even after the "confirm additional faces" command is used. FYI, if I manually name even one of those faces, then return to the "confirm" step, the app at least works thru a number of pics to ask me the "is this Person X or not."

All of the files are on a single MAcBook Pro; I do not use the Cloud, nor do I store anything on my iPhone.

I'll try your other idea on restarting to try to get more People detected.

Again, thank you for your reply.
