How do I downgrade MacOS High Sierra to MacOS Sierra, El-Capitan or Yosemite?

Hi, I've purchased an Apple iMac (4K Retina Display, 21'' Inch) for my production (recording studio) but it's already updated with the latest 'MacOS High Sierra (Ver. 10.13.1). My audio interface's driver [Lexicon IO 42] doesn't support on the latest update and it shows '' Discontinued '' every time when I visit Lexicon's official website for downloading A.I Driver [for MacOS High Sierra, ver. 10.13.1]. Would really appreciate if anybody could help me to solve this issue. Thank you in advance!

Downgrading should only be done as a last resort. May I suggest the following for you to consider instead?

  1. Option #1 - Install a version of OS X or macOS that supports your audio interface driver on an external USB drive, and boot up your Mac from that drive when you need to use your audio production apps.
  2. Option #2 - Install a VM manager, like Parallels or VMware on your iMac. Create a VM with the version of OS X or macOS that you need. Run the VM when you need to use you audio production apps.

Hello MacJack,

Understood your statement. Now how about if your system did come with a previous version of the current one you are running? Can it be safely downgraded to Mac OS Sierra? I was just advice to downgrade all my Mac Mini to OS Sierra, due to the fact High Sierra will eventually destroy prematurely my spinning drives.

Thanks in advance.🙂
