How do I switch back to a 4 digit passcode?

After updating to iOS 11.4 my phone now requires I use a 6 digit passcode. I realize this is more secure but I do not want to have to use that long of a code. When I follow the user guide to change my passcode, the only option I am given is to switch to an alphanumeric code which will not accept a 4 digit code. Options to turn off passcode are also greyed out. I do not have any kind of corporate email/exchange on this phone and it is a personal phone. HELP! Im going crazy over here!

The phone must have been used with a corporate email/exchange account in the past. I just compared a phone that does have a corporate exchange e-mail with one that doesn't and the one that doesn't has 3 passcode options, the one with exchange only has 1 passcode option.

Maybe try this if it's had an exchange account on the phone in the past:

To remove a configuration profile in iOS:

  1. On your iOS device, open Settings > General.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and open Profiles. If you do not see a "Profiles" section, you do not have a configuration profile installed.
  3. In the "Profiles" section, select the profile you wish to remove and tap Delete Profile. If you have a passcode for your device, you will be prompted to enter it. Then tap Delete.
