Saving IPHONE apps no longer available App Store

I have an app on both my IPhone & IPad I use all the time for teaching. The app was updated to IOS 11, 64-But everything.

Yesterday I found a message that it was no longer available in the US Apple App Store.

No longer in purchased apps (it was a freebie for teachers/students)

I desperately need this this app for teaching. I know the organization upgraded the App for IOS11. Hard to contact them to ask questions

Any way I can save these apps in my IPhone or IPad if I upgrade my devices? They are sound recordings of animals.

I’m afraid if I upgrade my IPhone or IPad I’ll lose them forever as I cannot download from the App Store at least in the USA.

Any ideas how to save them? And why would an benign educational, well-reviewed app be removed from USA App Store?

Unless the app developer updates this app you are left with only two choices:

Keep your iOS device at a firmware level that supports this app, or
Keep upgrading your device and forgo using this app.

You certainly should perform backups, but understand if you attempt to restore one of these backups to a device which has already been upgraded to a version of iOS that does not support this app, you will not be able to use it.

The developer updated it first of the year to comply with IOS 11 and 64 bits

This from a small nonprofit but it their property and information.

I guess this is happening to many small nonprofit and educational groups making applications for teaching or small niche groups...

Well, that was just a WAG. Don't know what you think is "happening"... Either Apple pulled it from the store for a legal or policy violation, or the app developer pulled it from the store for their own reasons. Either way, there is nothing anyone here can do about it.

Contact the app developer and ask them what's up. It's possible they are preparing another update and have removed the old version. They may have gone out of business. It may have been removed for any number of reasons from violating Apple's rules for using APIs to copyright violation.

If I had to take a wild guess, with no real information, I'd say it was probably removed because the recordings it contained were included illegally and are copyrighted by someone else.
