Go through the setting app and select Touch ID And Passcode fill out the fingerprints tab if not filled in. Add a fingerprint if not done so. If you have filled in your fingerprint try using another finger as Touch ID may not recognize the finger you selected. If nothing works your touch ID may be damaged.
