Apple watch display brightness

I have an Apple Watch 1st gen, and since yesterday when I updated to WatchOS 4.3.2, the display is very dark. I have tried to adjust brightness, both directly from the watch as well as from the iPhone Watch app, but it doesn't make any difference. I have restarted my watch, but that doesn't help either. The watch is fully charged. One odd observation though; when brought into close proximity with another watch, the display on my watch suddenly lit up as bright as it has ever been, but as soon as the other watch went away, my display became dark again.

The problem appeared with the update and you are the only user so far to notice a problem, so I suspect something corrupted in settings. You tried a reboot without success so the next step is to unpair the watch from your iPhone then re-pair. This will load all the settings and software again so it should make any brokens go away.
