Wallpaper photo on a MacBook Pro.

Can Anyone tell me how to position a photo for my wallpaper and screen saver (I want to lose some of the background) on a MacBook Pro? It’s easily done on my iPad and iPhone but I can’t seem to find how to do it on the Mac. I’m very new to the Mac so forgive me if it’s a ridiculously easy task.

MacBook Pro, macOS High Sierra (10.13)

Hello Kim. You may have to edit the image before setting it as desktop picture. There are no controls “to move it it bit to the side” or “zoom to crop”, while selecting a desktop picture. It will always be oriented around the center and optionally zoomed to fill or less (not more).

Preview allows cropping to a selection, then saving as a copy, which may be precisely what you need. For more precise controls, you may have to load the image into a proper image editor.
