Photo location not showing in preview on Mac

Hi,

Mac OS high Sierra 10.13.5. iPhone OS 11.4

I import my iPhone photos to my Mac then copy them to my (non Apple)

server back them up.

The gps data is enabled and shows up on the phone. Location also shows up on

a windows machine.

However in viewer on my Mac the “Tools->show location info” menu item is greyed out

and if I “Show Inspector” there is no gps tab.

If however I open the photo in Photos the location appears in the title bar

and I can see the location on a map by selecting “Image->Show explore view”.

Although this works it is extremely awkward compared to the viewer method.

Does anyone know what is going on?

That was easy and helpful. Worked straight away, after several fruitless hours trying other advice.

Also, I could never follow the instructions given for creating a Preview of my photos in the first place.

My own solution is to copy, by drag and drop, from Photos to the desk top and then open in Preview

I had the same question and found the answer. This worked like a charm.

Try enabling “Include location information for published items” in Photos preferences. Last I checked this also applied to drag-and-drop. blog.houdah.com/2015/12/… – Pierre Bernard May 5 '16 at 18:46
