Capture Question

I was able to capture the video into FCE but I wasn't able to hear the sound coming out from the computer during capture. I only see the video on the screen. I didn't have this problem working with Elements on PC. Is that normal? If not, pls tell me where to look in the setup to turn on the sound because I couldn't find it.

Second, after capturing it always says that my sound is at different bit and therefore the video and audio could be out of sync. I recorded at 12 bps. Is that the problem? Am I supposed to record my video at 16bps? I reviewed the video file output and everything seems to be alright.

Third, the sound status shows MONO on all my scenes with the exception of 1 scene. Do you know why? It's exactly the same camera during the same shooting.

Thanks for the help.

1. To hear audio while capturing, open the Log and Capture window. Click on the Clip Settings tab. In the Audio section, there is a Preview box. Check it. (This works on FCP, not sure about FCE but its probably the same)

2. You should set your camera to 16 bit audio prior to recording. 16 bit audio is equivalent to 48khz audio. If your camera was set to 12 bit audio, you cannot change it. You must capture it with a 12 bit capture preset (AKA 32khz). At the moment, I can't remember how to do this.

3. In the same spot at #1 above, there is a little box to the left of the VU meters with two circles in it. If the circles are separate, its mono, if they are intersecting, its stereo. Click the box to toggle it back and forth. (Again this works in FCP, I apologize if FCE is different)
