Tip for Users with [Egnyte] Cloud Sharing

As a Graphic user, I have Large files that I need to Preview all the time. Using Adobe Bridge lets you preview Most image file types faster than any other program I've yet to find.

However when dealing with the Cloud, This may not always be the case.

Egnyte, while downloads and uploads are "fast", previews are extremely SLOW. (Finder and Bridge alike)

The fastest work around I have found to this Cloud based network is to

1. Attach a local HardDrive large enough to hold Everything you need (USB 3 / Thunderbolt)

2. Install the Desktop Sync application.

3. Select the Folders you want Synced

4. Set the Sync frequency - ever # Hours (don't run as Always this slows things down)

Once you have this set up, you no longer need to navigate the Slow Network Drive.

PRO:

  • Previews are fast again
  • you have a Local back up too (should the internet go down)

CON:

  • Need to Purchase Good External HD
  • Uses up a USB/TB Port

iMac, macOS High Sierra (10.13.5)
